Pregnancy Week 5

Baby Development

By this week, your baby will be small and the size of an orange seed. The baby resembles a little tadpole with a basic head and a small tail. The baby’s organ system is now starting to form, and the baby’s circulatory system is the first to develop. You can even see the first heartbeats of the tiny heart as early as next week on the ultrasound.

The baby’s heart now consists of two small channels known as heart tubes. This tube would merge to form the fully functional heart. Besides that, the neural tubes will later turn into the brain, nerves, and spinal cord.

Changes in mother

This is the start of motherhood. The mother’s body is preparing for the significant changes to come. The mother would have missed her regular period by now. She can confirm the pregnancy by peeing on a stick, as the pregnancy hormone would have kicked in by now. Confirming what you already suspect would most likely be a rollercoaster of emotion. However, mood swings are pretty normal this time. There would be other early signs of pregnancy, like tender breasts and nausea at the smell of particular food items that never bothered you before.
